Wendy d’E. Vallancey and Mary Bramley graduated from Glasgow Caledonian in 1987 and went their separate ways to finish their Optometry qualifications. They have both worked in small and large independent practices and also large multiples across the South of England.
Mary never really left Aves, working here part-time over the years. Wendy joined the practice in 2001 as a partner when Roger Murray decided to retire. Grahame Dadd retired a year later and Mary and Wendy took over as full Partners in the business. After many years caring for his very loyal patients and overseeing the transition to the new partnership, Andrew Pirie retired in 2013.
Mary and Wendy are both very keen to continue the caring and personal care ethos started by the previous partners.
All our optometrists are qualified and registered with the General Optical Council and are experienced in both eye care and contact lens fitting for all ages.
Mary has been a partner at Aves since 2001 together with Wendy d’E Vallancey. She is married with 3 adult children who keep her busy when she is not working.
She started as a trainee with Aves in 1987.
Mary is now very involved with organising professional development training evenings for the Hertfordshire Local Optical Committee.
Wendy started her training in an independent optometry practice in Essex and has worked in Surrey, Dorset and Hampshire. She joined Mary as a partner at Aves in 2001 and loves the ethos of the practice.
Wendy is married with 2 children who also keep her busy.
Since graduating from City University, Rinal has worked for several of the larger groups of Opticians, but has now settled at Aves and says she has never been happier! Besides working here, she practices at the Hospital and does some face painting at weekends.
James first started working at Aves straight from University and is still very happy working here seeing regular patients. Away from the practice, James enjoys many active and inactive hobbies like travelling, beer and wine appreciation!
Sosena joined the Aves team in 2010. She graduated in 1995 from City University, London and completed her Masters in Clinical Optometry in 2004. Her specialist interests are in low vision and paediatric optometry where she has clinics at the QEII hospital.
Josie Qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 1998 and joined Aves in 2009. She works part-time and enjoys the lively, friendly atmosphere at Aves. In her spare time, she enjoys horse riding.
Irayna, a Dispensing Optician, started with us to help out with holiday cover but loved it so much stayed and is now very much part of the team. Highly fashion conscious and stylish, she enjoys finding the “perfect” frame for her patients. Outside work she is a busy mum and a keen photographer and has recently taken up running as a hobby.
Steven Roberts is one of our Dispensing Opticians who joined the practice in 2007. He has excellent technical knowledge of Optics and fortunately is also extremely IT literate – a winning combination! He is also a distance learning tutor for the Association of British Dispensing Opticians.
Rosie started working for Aves as a part-time receptionist over 12 years ago. It soon became apparent, however, that she had a flair for dispensing. Whilst Rosie hasn’t had the formal training that the Dispensing Opticians have had, she supports the team with her practical skills. Her creative flair colours many aspects of the practice including dressing our windows.
Karen joined our dispensing team in the summer of 2018, after achieving her qualification from Anglea Ruskin University in Cambridge. Karen enjoys being a part of the dispensing team at Aves. When she is not fitting spectacles, she loves going for walks with Bella, her lovely puppy cockerpoo.
Sandra has worked at Aves for several years and lives locally. She says that it is always nice to see people of all ages that are part of our community, and that it is good for Ware to have a traditional business serving the town and its families.
