Ware based optometrist Jasmine Smith, has won a prestigious national award. Miss Smith has been announced as winner in the category of Newly-qualified Optometrist of the Year in the AOP Awards 2018, which is run by the Association of Optometrists (AOP).
Miss Smith is currently pursuing a doctorate in optometry with Aston University, along with working as a full time optometrist at Aves Optometrists. She was honoured to have won in the category, which is sponsored by Leightons Opticians and Hearing Care, commenting: “I always put all of my time and effort into helping my patients and furthering my knowledge, so it is lovely to have it recognised”.
The Awards, now in its seventh year, recognises the highest levels of achievement in UK optics. The Newly-qualified Optometrist of the Year accolade celebrates practitioners who have launched their early career with gusto going above and beyond their day job. AOP Chief Executive, Henrietta Alderman, said “Every one of this year’s finalists have demonstrated extraordinary dedication. Their commitment and passion have amazed our judges and we are delighted to recognise their achievements”.
